The Branchburg Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports Branchburg Public Schools and Somerville High School by funding innovative programs that are not provided through the annual school budget.
These programs are offered to provide enhanced learning experiences and opportunities for all students to learn and develop outside of the core classroom setting.

Grants
At its May meeting, BEF approved two grants for the Branchburg Schools:
LEGO STEM Kits for Stony Brook School; grant submitted by Ms. Katlin Kelly. The BEF funded the purchase of six LEGO Spike Essentials learning kits for Stony Brook to help foster STEM innovation and creativity among the students. The kits provide students the opportunity to design, build, and program their own creations, bringing abstract STEM concepts to life in a fun and engaging way. BEF’s support of this grant creates an environment where students can explore their curiosity, experiment with new ideas, and gain confidence to become future innovators. Ms. Kelly plans to use these kits with all 4th and 5th grade students.
Inclusive, Equitable and Innovative Learning Spaces for BCMS; grant submitted by Ms. Laura Barker. The BEF recently sponsored the purchase of various items that will enable Ms. Barker to improve her classroom environment and create inclusive, equitable, and innovative learning spaces. Using the supplies funded by BEF, she will create several distinct work zones tailored to the needs of diverse learners. Ms. Barker notes that these differentiated work zones will support various learning styles and create an inclusive classroom culture, which promotes active engagement. These distinct zones also support student-centered learning and the development of students’ metacognitive and interoceptive skills, which will empower students to become more self-aware, manage their learning and emotions more effectively, and better meet their individual needs.
