Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) Grade Report

Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) Grade Report Description

All New Jersey Schools are required to submit a self-assessment where several questions are ranked under the subject of HIB (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying). The schools are then given a score out of a total of 78 points. The score that Branchburg Township School District received for the 2021-2022 School Year was 74 out of 78.

In Branchburg, we have made significant progress in addressing and improving the awareness of harassment, intimidation, and bullying, and school climate since the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act came into effect in 2011. Since the implementation of the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, we have been working diligently on fulfilling the requirements by improving our activities and programs at each school for the “Week of Respect,” identifying trends in HIB reporting and addressing concerns, developing and implementing a victim check-in form and system to ensure follow-up, developing school-level goals to promote positive climate for staff and students, and providing information sessions about HIB. We use the self-assessments as a means of identifying areas for improvement. We plan to continue to track HIB cases and review the results, improve our HIB training materials to increase HIB awareness, work with Transportation and other various departments to promote positive climate in all school locations, and continue to evaluate programs for effectiveness and future planning.
