Board of Education Meeting on November 2nd

At our November 2nd Board of Education meeting, Superintendent, Rebecca Gensel shared with the board several newsworthy items.

1) Through the effort of Maggi Emmons, STEM Coach at BCMS, students were able to work with technology developers from Google to become part of their Expeditions Augmented Reality Pioneer Program.

Google is in the process of developing this program and they visited BCMS on Monday and our students were beta testers for the program.

2) Ms. Gensel spoke with Johnson & Johnson and a Smithsonian Institution representative to discuss the opportunity of partnering with J&J to have scientists come into our schools to work with students and talk about what they do in real life.

The intent of the program is to build interest in the STEM fields for students in grades K-12 and to offer mentoring opportunities in the hope that students will pursue STEM careers.
